Good vocabulary, but it wasn't for me posted on 2006-11-17
I bought this course on the strength of the Hugo Turkish in 3 Months which I own but it is a very different type of course. In the Turkish in 3 months there is the opportunity to practice one's pronunciation by repeating sentences after the speaker but this course has recorded conversations that one just listens to. I did the first three chapters without finding any speaking practice, then just looked through the rest of the first book. For myself, I find it's not enough just to know how to say something in a new language, I need practice actually speaking before the new sounds and words flow easily.

If you can learn this way, the book is very rich with a good vocabulary, but I found myself being in danger of being able to read and write Italian without learning to speak properly.
